Just Dance

I absolutely love this picture of Maya Angelou in her performance days.  Sometimes I think I am her love child and was given away for adoption lol.  (JOKES) She is definitely a role model figure in my life.  Aside from Langston Hughes she tops my list of favorite poets.  If time capsules were real my first stop would be back to the Jazz Age.

I hope to produce a book of my poetry one day.  I have journals of poetry written from my elementary school days.  My mother often reminds me that up until I was about seven years old I would give her birthday and Mother’s day cards that started off with “Roses are red, Violets are blue.”  I guess from there I decided to create my own rhymes.

I think this past week I wrote about two or more poems a day.  It keeps me grounded.  I’m influenced a lot by my interactions with others, worldly issues, and overall —>LIFE.

If you’re a close friend, more than likely I have written a poem about you.  If you’re a brotha I happen to admire (or despise) most likely,  I have probably composed two or four LOL!  What can I say?  It’s expression.

Regardless of your day job, make some time for your hobbies!
