I have a new favorite film. I love anything jazz culture. This animation incorporated all three!  Chico and Rita released in 2010 tells a tale of true love.    Directors Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal brought art to life with this film.  Am I the only one that looks at impressionism and wonders how it would be if the painting comes to life?  Well, that’s Chico and Rita for you.

Without giving to much, this cartooned film depicts the history of Cuban Jazz in the 1940’s.  One night Chico attends the performance of an up and coming Cuban singer named Rita. It was love at first sight for him. Rita  was quite the catch and hard to grasp…

I watched the film through Netflix and I plan on purchasing this to add it to my collection. If you’re a music lover, appreciate jazz, and love learning culture its a film you have got to see!

Here are a few snapshots of my favorite parts:

Enjoy watching,
